Cost Shouldn’t Be a Barrier
Sliding-Scale Fees Available
Every situation is different. Sliding-scale adjustments are considered on a case-by-case basis for clients facing financial hardship — and this isn’t reflected in the fees above. Just bring it up during your free 15-minute consultation, and we’ll talk it through together. Circumstances can also be revisited if your situation changes partway through care.
Request a ConsultationPayment Policy
A secure card is kept on file
To help make billing feel simple and stress-free, clients are asked to keep a secure credit or debit card on file for payment purposes, including copays, session balances, and applicable late cancellation or no-show fees.
Card details are stored in the practice’s secure, HIPAA-compliant billing system — never by email or text. Read the full Payment Policy for details on timing of charges, accepted methods, cancellations, and sliding-scale options.
Insurance vs. Private Pay
Weighing your options
There's no universally right answer — it depends on your priorities around cost, privacy, and flexibility. This is general information, not specific to any single insurance plan; details vary by carrier. Talk it through during your consultation if you're unsure which fits you best.
Using Insurance
Potential advantages
- Lower per-session cost through a copay or coinsurance, once benefits apply
- Can make frequent, ongoing care more affordable over the long run
Things to consider
- Most plans require a mental health diagnosis before they'll approve payment, which becomes part of your medical record
- Plans often cap the number of covered sessions or require periodic re-authorization to continue
- Insurers can request treatment reviews or audits of session records to confirm care is "medically necessary"
- Session length, frequency, or approach can be shaped by what's covered, not only by clinical judgment
Paying Privately
Potential advantages
- No diagnosis is required simply to receive care
- No third party reviewing session notes or treatment plans — what's shared stays between you and your counselor
- No session caps or pre-authorization — pace and length of care are guided by your goals and clinical judgment
- Sliding-scale consideration may be available on a case-by-case basis
Things to consider
- The full session fee is paid out of pocket at the time of service
- No direct insurance payment — though a superbill can be requested to seek partial out-of-network reimbursement
Both paths — using in-network insurance or private pay — are available side by side. There's no wrong choice; it's simply worth knowing the trade-offs going in.
Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate
Know the cost before you begin
Notice: You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Under the federal No Surprises Act, health care providers are required to give patients who don’t have insurance, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for medical services — including psychotherapy services.
- You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare service, including psychotherapy
- You can ask this practice, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service
- If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill
- Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate
At this practice, your exact rate is confirmed during the free 15-minute consultation and provided to you in writing, as part of your Good Faith Estimate, before your first session — so you always know the amount before it’s charged. You’re welcome to request a written estimate at any point before your first session; just ask.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
Questions About Cost?
Ask before you book — there's no pressure.
Cost shouldn't be a mystery. If you're unsure whether this practice is a fit for your budget or insurance situation, send a message and get clear answers before scheduling anything. There's no shame in asking, no pressure to commit, and no judgment either way — just honest information so you can make the choice that's right for you.
Anything you share is kept in strict confidence under HIPAA and Louisiana law. Your information is never shared without your written consent, except where legally required. Billing conversations get the same privacy protection as clinical ones.
